A new sponsor kit for Moonlight Cinema…
To assist Moonlight Cinema develop existing and new sponsor relationships for the 2007 and 2008 season, the studio has produced this sponsorship package. Within a modest fixed budget we produced a 24 page brochure, folder and sticker. To keep costs down used the waste sheets from the brochure to make the folder. The project was conceived and illustrated by the studio, with writing by Andrew Pegler, location photography by John Gollings and print by Gunn & Taylor.

Back light
As the sun sets on Greville Street a new nightclub (still in construction mode) cranks up its white strobe lights revealing a pulsing super graphic developed to lure passers-by. The majority of the strobed light is blocked out by blackened glass panels (in the french doors that stretch the full width of the site – some 16 to 20 metres), except for fine, eerie line work scratched out of the painted glass. The image for membership based club – Valve nightclub (part of the Allegiance Group) was developed by a “Barry” according to the minder. Barry turns out to be Fady of Playground – the design arm of the Allegiance group. This simple technique creates a very evocative image for those lucky to be on Greville Street in the late hours. The images are a fusion of technology, death, magic, sex, the not-of-this-world, innocence… letting off steam at Club Valve. The following pictures do little to capture the effect of this supergraphic and a site inspection is a must, at night of course – 177 Greville Street, Prahran (near the town hall).

More pole junkies have been sighted on King and Greville Streets, near Chapel Street, Prahan.

We painted the market orange in July…
Another Melbourne Design Market has been and gone. This year common sense and experience prevailed – our stock was pre-packed in a suit case. Then we sourced twenty metres of light-weight orange temporary fencing, an orange drop sheet, and these crazy hand clamps from our favorite store – Bunnings – the set was dressed, so to speak. David Lancashire came along with more Roo cards, posters and gags. Sarah and Simeon from OMA in Sydney tested Melbourne buyers with their unique version of things for kids. We were ready for trade by 9.45am, instead of the usual 10.28am.
The studio had two new postcards, three new greeting cards, and fifty-two new badge designs… It was a long, busy and great day. Thanks to all our new supporters, our regular card people, the spelling spotters who found our spelling faux pas and passers-by simply interested in what we do. Your feed back and comments are humbling. It makes what we do more relevant, connected and interesting. It is an invaluable experience for a designer to play client, create product and meet the marketplace head on. See you all at the next market.

This post has little to do with design and a lot to do with music. We listen to a lot of music in the office, and the likelihood of ever being invited to guest host ABC television’s music video show – Rage, is remote. So kick back, click through the songs via YouTube.com and sample our play list.
