So Frenchy So Chic 2008

pipandco_sfsc_080227_01.jpg

The So Frenchy So Chic series, the unofficial soundtrack to the French Film Festival, is in its fourth year. Producing the communication work is a simple and chaotic process – engage the canny eye and talents of Kat Macleod, from Ortolan, to develop the season’s diva; with diva in hand the studio madly puts together the packaging and promotion collateral; all under the constant supervision of Filter Music’s founder JF (the Frenchman). This process typically takes place in the closing and crazy weeks of Christmas. 2008’s diva makes a departure from collage and rendering to bold dashes of painterly colour contrasted with the whim of sparely cast pencil marks.

Don’t forget:
Nouvelle Vague and The Moonshine Sessions Live
There is only a few tickets left, so don’t miss out on this unique event. Nouvelle Vague will be performing a brand new show introducing songs such as “One hundred years” The Cure, “Under the flag” Fad Gadget, “Such a shame” Talk Talk with the Nouvelle Vague touch of course.

Sydney, Saturday 1st March at Metro Theatre from 8.30 pm
Melbourne, Sunday 2nd March at The Prince Bandroom from 8.30 pm (Sold out)
Melbourne, Monday 3rd March at Manchester Lane from 8.30 pm (New date)

Fever Italia 2007 – CD packaging

CD packaging design is a regular project in the studio. The budgets are modest, the market is saturated, time lines are tight and the client has to ensure everything has been accounted for. After several generations Fever Italia is here and on the shelves again. Illustration developed by studio designer Sarah Furzer.

A place for stuff

Spicers Paper asked us to develop a new promotion for their new grade of Stephen called Daring Brown. It is a rich dark brown cover stock in 280gsm perfect for a book jacket, some packaging or business cards.

We came up with the desk box idea – everyone has a desk and often needs a place for knick knacks, CDs and bits. We played around with metallic, black and white inks, there are four kinds of boxes, so keep an ear out for when your next Spicers person is in the studio. They might very well have box or two for you. We did the thinking and image making, Gunn & Taylor brought the boxes to life in ink and on paper. Thanks again to Spicers for the leap of faith, lovely.
