Look out for Global Village 3

The studio was commissioned to develop music packaging for SBS’s seminal travel show Global Village.

The series has an ongoing theme that explores exotic creatures that populate all corners of the earth. We submitted a range of creatures and a beetle was selected for it jewel like qualities. The illustration of the exotic beetle was developed by our image maker in residence Sarah Pickering. A quirky botanic rendering of the beetle was selected and the final rendering was completed in watercolour and pencil.

Thanks again to Universal Music.

What does the studio look like?

Our image maker in residence Sarah Pickering developed these images of our studio space, in a former life the studio has been home to a designers collective and a drafting services studio. There is lots of light, lots of contrast, lots of white and eagle grey floor.

The Greenhouse by Joost opens tonight

After ten plus mad days of construction the Greenhouse by Joost opens for summer at Federation Square, Melbourne. It is a cafe bar venue demonstrating a range of sustainable features. The building can be fully recycled with materials that include steel, ply and straw, the waste will be recycled or composted, the produce will be grown on the rooftop garden with also a hive of native bees (the non stinging type). And that is just the beginning.

Along with the brand we have produced with Joost, the website, apparel, print materials and a 24 page newsprint publication featuring photography by Earl Carter, writing and editing by Annemarie Kiely and news printing by Newsprinters of Shepparton.

The publication makes sense of all the ideas and collaborators flying about in Joost’s world. Upon completion of document’s layout, Joost dropped by and interrupted the piece with handwritten musing, doodles and comments.

Good luck to all the people who have work like mad dogs to finish this ambitious project and thankyou again to Joost for such a wonderful collaboration.

3 Deep reveals their creative edge…

The 2008 AGDA National Design Conference, in Adelaide, was the stage where 3 Deep Design shared their approach to the design process, during the “Love your enemy” presentation.

Inspired by Richard Gere’s looks and natural acting style; in the 1980 cult classic – American Gigilo, 3 Deep have shaped a design concern that is sophisticated, elegant and breath taking. Their presentation in Adelaide mirrored Gere’s verve, with a bounty of ideas, dreams and cinema grabs. A memorable video bight selected by 3 Deep was a line delivered by Gere amid his client service process – You are a very sexy lady… I am going to make you wet – the remarks left the audience convinced of 3 Deep’s commitment to providing a design product of the highest quality in any market they choose to operate within.

3 Deep Design are a very sexy studio, and made for a inspired and breathtaking design experience. David and Brett are without question the Tigers of design.
