For some years now Andrew Gunn has been hassling the studio to produce a publication of Andrew’s photographic work.

We were in the middle of producing a printing guide when Andrew said – Printing guide sminting guide, I want tell the story of our love of print with something like this (he was thumbing through and old copy of Funnel, a Nelmes Smith Ashton stab at publishing).

That was eight days ago. An all night session that Thursday night, a pdf, a yes on Friday morning, aweekend of photo prep, artwork was ready Monday, pre-press was approved Thursday, press check 6am Sunday, binding on Monday. Launch on Wednesday (tomorrow) at AGIdeas for the Marina Willer presentation.

Get your copy at the conference! Thanks again to Gunn & Taylor, an amazing effort.

International Reconciliation Year 2009.

It seemed fitting to see in the new year in with a message of peace. It is an age old cliché that needs little explanation in such interesting times.

From the United Nations website:

Reconciliation was a way of embedding into culture the high ideals beyond petty concerns, a process that made humanity and the common good the cornerstone of development. Reconciliation between those estranged by conflicts was the only way to confront today‘s challenges and the process and practice of reconciliation must be promoted by States; between men and women, nature and humanity, and wherever fraternity and justice were absent from human relations. The initiative had the support of governments, institutions of higher learning, civil society groups, the alliance of civilizations and the culture of peace.

In response the studio has developed an image of peace, executed with a collection of stamps and some spare time.

Happy holidays to all. Thank you to all our contributors, our clients, our collaborators and those of you out there on the other side of computer screen interested in our works and the ideas in and around communicating ideas to the community.

Peace and reconciliation to one and all in 2009 and beyond.

The studio is working with Melbourne based catering group Food & Desire to assist with brand positioning and communication across a range of media — from print to advertising.

With existing imagery we developed an idea that interrupts the catering process to illustrate the desire that is unique to the client‘s catering services, with copy that prompts what these events mean to the people who commission catering services. In summary, Food & Desire helps their clients put on great events and we felt their is an opportunity to make this process clear and destinctive.

This brand ad developed for Food & Desire, with photography by Marcel Aucar, this appears in Vogue Entertaining and Travel this month, is the beginning of a communication campaign that looks beyond the food and venues, and onto the act of creating memorable occasions and inspired celebrations.

Thanks again to Food & Desire for making this outcome happen.

What is a birthday celebration for two little boys without a monkey birthday poster? The image making was developed in the studio and this short run poster was produced utilising Risograph printing.

The Risograph is a high speed, multifunctional digital printing system. It combines three basic technologies: scanning, precision imaging, and high speed printing. The Risograph is the perfect self-contained reprographics system as it offers the convenience of a copier, the economy of a duplicator, and the durability of an offset press.

Thanks to Stuart at Chase & Galley for printing our posters.
