The studio has produced brand ad for the Australian Graphic Design Association. This ad is a contrast to last year’s ad – simple, graphic and with no hidden messages ad prevails. We collaborated with Adobe illustrator using it’s default colour palette and crazy effect palette.

The studio with designer David Pidgeon developed a student publication on behalf of the Australian Graphic Design Association that addresses how to get a job by design writer Adrian Shaughnessy. Along with a voyeuristic question and answer forum with over 45 studios from Berlin, Sydney, London, New York, Auckland to Melbourne — exploring colour, typeface, beverages, influences to simply documenting studio web addresses.

Read Me First is a 40 page publication was a mad rush of late nights, collation and instinct. Today on day two at the AGIdea conference AGDA Victoria sold 450 publication in ten minutes. We will stock up again for day three and see what happens.

Several approaches contributed to this outcome which included developing this customised typeface, which is untitled. The client wanted “new deco“ to reflect his state-of-the-art art deco pub. After an extensive concept development stage we found a small type sample that captured the client’s vision for new deco — from an out-of-the-way sculpture in London “Seven Ages of Man“ created by Richard Kindersley. After several weeks of character design, drafting, refinement and tweaking we developed a complete uppercase font and numbers set, which we developed into the typemark.

David Band has also developed several new artworks which we will build into the suite of work for all the new spaces within the venue.
