Andrew’s photography has been recognised at this year’s Corbis 2009 Creative Behind the Lens competition. The announcement was launched at an event at Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.
This image was taken on the train ride to Coney Island, New York during the winter season. It was a long unrewarding ride, where the carriages were barely full, snow on the beach dotted with plastic palms, closed down rides, clear mid blue skies and black puddles. The screwed up windows created vistas that were more like a Turner painting with their blurry glimpses and dreamy shapes.

The images that Andrew likes best are the ones where the music lingers and the line up, focus and click is brief.

Andrew has been in China for the last week as one of the speakers for the recent ICOGRADA world congress in Beijing. Amid catching speakers Irma Boom, Lust, Michael Vanderbyl, the guys for BaseLab, Fiona Ruby, Alice Tremlow and Peter Hall, there were a few hours where the smog in city parted briefly and let in some blue sky.

In expensive personal computers, user friendly software and the world of graphic design is your oyster. So in the spirit of everyone is a designer, builder, artist and even photographer we developed this stationery suite for Sydney based photographer Karl Schwerdtfeger.
We followed the typical design process, establishing brief, working through responses, working out the look and feel, establishing the elements and then the realisation is left up to Karl. Welcome to the world of “D.I.Y. brands”.

The studio’s ongoing process of finding and making images takes us to many spaces. Somewhere between Melbourne and Canberra on the open road, the weather set in and the clouds fell to the earth.
