Kerekere — future coffee

The studio was approached to develop a new brand for coffee vendors Kerekere, pronounced kerry, kerry. Kerekere is a Fijian custom of giving without expectation of repayment. Kerekere is located at Melbourne University and customers have the option to choose where the profit goes to the: owner, an environmental cause, cultural causes, or social causes.

The brand is simple, soulful solution that references the distribution process. A playing card is given to customers when ordering their coffee, the customer then chooses the cause by putting it in owner, environmental, cultural or social slot. The hearts suit seemed the most appropriate to graphically represent Kerekere.

In the coming months the brand will be manifested using stencils, chalking, rubber stamps and online.

    I am just browsing around having looked at Remo’s site for a t-shirt design but I can’t help stopping to say that I reckon this particular design is wonderful. It really attracts me to try the brand/cafe whatever to do with this coffee. Can’t wait to see it out in the real world.

    We deliberately deleted Billy Elliot‘s comment. Billy can you submit it, or another comment again, so we can deliberately delete these comments as well?

    We like to publish all comments, the critical comments in particular have helped us improve our content. The Neville Brody piece was a great pickup by Brett Wickens from MetaDesign SF, and Richard Henderson‘s speech bubble comments, created some great debate.

    However from time to time people with fake names, fake email addresses or no contact details, submit colourful, damning and obsurd comments without allowing us, and our readers, the right of reply, or the ability to match the person with the comments.

    We will continue to delete comments from fakers, as fakers foster a one sided conversation.
