We painted the market orange in July…
Another Melbourne Design Market has been and gone. This year common sense and experience prevailed – our stock was pre-packed in a suit case. Then we sourced twenty metres of light-weight orange temporary fencing, an orange drop sheet, and these crazy hand clamps from our favorite store – Bunnings – the set was dressed, so to speak. David Lancashire came along with more Roo cards, posters and gags. Sarah and Simeon from OMA in Sydney tested Melbourne buyers with their unique version of things for kids. We were ready for trade by 9.45am, instead of the usual 10.28am.
The studio had two new postcards, three new greeting cards, and fifty-two new badge designs… It was a long, busy and great day. Thanks to all our new supporters, our regular card people, the spelling spotters who found our spelling faux pas and passers-by simply interested in what we do. Your feed back and comments are humbling. It makes what we do more relevant, connected and interesting. It is an invaluable experience for a designer to play client, create product and meet the marketplace head on. See you all at the next market.
